Professional Bio
Professor Speronis received his law degree from Stetson University in 1987 and worked as an attorney in Florida in various capacities. He was an area director for a major restaurant company in metropolitan New York before moving to Bangor with his family, where he became an award-winning manager/partner at one of the area's premier restaurants. In 2020, Dr. Speronis was awarded the prestigious Arthur Comstock Award for professional service and leadership by the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce. Husson University recognized Dr. Speronis with the University’s Service Award for the third time in 2022! In 2023, the Husson University School of Hospitality and Tourism Management received the Governor’s Award for Leadership and Growth. On May 5th, 2026, Dr. Speronis was inducted into the Maine Tourism Association Hall of Fame!
Since moving to Maine in 2003, Lee has concentrated on giving back to the community as much as possible through charitable work and service. He is the past chair of the board (25-26) of the Maine Tourism Association, a board member of Maine Hospitality, and the president of the Parish Council at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church. Lee has twice been awarded the Metropolis award in 2018 and 2025 for service to the Diocese. Lee served as chair for the Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau from 2013-2015 and 2020-21. Additionally, he served as board chair of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce from 2017 to 2019 and as chair of the Bangor Community Council from 2020 to 2022. Lee was the 2023-25 chair of the Cross Insurance Center Advisory Group. In 2020, Lee was selected as a Corporator to Bangor Savings Bank and was named to the board of Dennis Paper and Food Service. His current and past board and/or fundraising activities have included the following: the American Folk Festival, the Bangor Humane Society, and the Lafayette Cancer Center.
